Hello HN! Today I'm releasing to the public something I've been working on for a little while now. I wrote a rust back-end to replace the one xterm.js uses. After many issues with Node and security concerns with some of the packages required by xterm.js (which is inherent to any node project with many dependencies), we decided to build our own xterm.rs back-end that would have no dynamic dependencies, no packages to install, just download the binary, run ./xterm_rs and that's it, you're exposing a live fully interactive terminal on http://localhost:8080/term.
It has been battle tested internally and feels quite good to use, but please do not expose it to the WAN, it's still a work in progress!
